IS There is a point after you write the first draft and edit, and it is with someone else, there isn't much you can do in that area. Of course, you continue to write, but if your like me, when you took your writing courses and so on were years in the past. I for one, recognize I have developed a few really bad habits I think mainly due to being slightly dyslexic and because of writing to chat with folks. Chat can really make you lazy. You cannot write a book full of happy faces and exclamation marks , although it could make for an interesting read! Back to hieroglyphics!
So there are TONS of websites out there with people writing blogs and trying to get you to sign up for this course or that one and they are really interesting, however I promised myself I was not going to get hooked into the online game of spending money. Having said that, there is one place I will mention. It is called Udemy.com. I won't link it since it will bring you up to my account and I don't want to log out since I may have forgotten my password! It is, a really inexpensive and fun way to learn at your own pace. I warn you however, I a glad it is a course you can stop and start at will since the material is overwhelming! And also, sometimes the course you want, IS CHEAPER WHEN YOU BUY IT WITH ANOTHER. This is not a catch, just the way the promos work! The course I bought was $24.99 and would have been twice that if I had not bought it with another course! So while I work on my book I am also learning about how to set up and promote my book. Cool huh? And I am getting some really good pointers. I also took a course with a man who is teaching writing and has great reviews and has been in the business of writing for years. I must warn however, these courses are cheap but can add up! I never leave my credit card info on the site so I can do no impulse shopping! I have a few for future use but I am TRYING to stay focused. While all this is going on of course, I am also carrying around my little recorder and getting ideas and things I want to go into my next book. I already have the title I want and know how it will work with the searches on Amazon. So much to do. I suspect once I do my first book and get it out there, I shall be ready for the next much faster and have bookmarked important points on the course for future reference. Trying to juggle writing with daily living and work is never easy however we do what we must and discipline is the key. Good luck!
